National Security Legislation Inquiry
23 July 2012
As a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Intelligence and Security I am receiving many emails about the Committee’s inquiry into potential reforms of national security legislation. This matter was referred to the Committee by the Attorney-General, the Hon Nicola Roxon, MP.
The Committee has now commenced the inquiry process, and, as a Committee member, I appreciate the very significant number of people who have contacted me to register their concerns with some of the proposed changes. I can assure those who have contacted me that I am taking account of all the strong views expressed about this important matter.
More information about this inquiry, including its Terms of Reference, a discussion paper prepared by the Attorney-General’s Department and information regarding the lodgement of submissions is available on the Committee’s website (link here).
